Vertiv completes acquisition of PurgeRite to enhance thermal management

Vertiv strengthens its thermal management capabilities by acquiring PurgeRite, bolstering its position as a leader in liquid cooling systems.

Vertiv Holdings Co, a renowned global provider of critical digital infrastructure, has announced the successful completion of its acquisition of Purge Rite Intermediate LLC. PurgeRite is a prominent provider of mechanical flushing, purging, and filtration services, primarily for data centres and mission-critical facilities.

This acquisition, valued at approximately $1.0 billion, enhances Vertiv's capabilities in the thermal management sector and reinforces its status as a global leader in next-generation thermal chain services tailored for liquid cooling systems.

"We are excited to officially welcome PurgeRite to Vertiv," expressed Gio Albertazzi, CEO at Vertiv. The inclusion of PurgeRite's specialised expertise in fluid management boosts Vertiv's portfolio, enabling the company to offer comprehensive end-to-end support for high-density computing and AI applications. Efficient thermal management remains a cornerstone for optimised performance and reliability in these areas.

The rise of high-performance computing (HPC) and AI operations has made liquid cooling technology indispensable. Ensuring peak cooling performance necessitates maintaining clean fluid loops from the outset. By establishing ultra-clean, air-free, chemically stable coolant systems, Vertiv aims to uphold performance throughout the system's lifecycle.

PurgeRite's integration is anticipated to provide significant advantages to customers, including enhanced system performance, improved heat transfer, and increased equipment efficiency. Moreover, the synergy between the two companies is expected to reduce downtime risks and expand service operations globally, all while maintaining consistent service quality.

Headquartered in Houston, Texas, PurgeRite has carved a niche in mechanical flushing and filtration services, boasting strong affiliations with hyperscalers and Tier 1 colocation providers. Its engineering prowess, proprietary tech, and scalable solutions stand to reinforce Vertiv's offerings in liquid cooling across the entire thermal chain, from chillers to coolant distribution units (CDUs).

By integrating PurgeRite's capabilities with its existing portfolio, Vertiv positions itself to offer seamless thermal management solutions — from facility-level considerations right down to rack-level fine-tuning.
