Snowflake announces new AI and data platform enhancements

Snowflake announces new AI-driven platform updates and $200 million OpenAI partnership.

Snowflake, the AI Data Cloud company, has unveiled a series of product enhancements to accelerate enterprises' data and AI projects, providing user-friendly tools and a cohesive environment.

Cortex Code has moved to general availability, offering a data-native coding agent optimal for automating and fast-tracking enterprise development. This agent is crafted to operate within an organisation's data sphere.

In addition, the company's Semantic View Autopilot aims to enhance how AI agents understand and interpret business metrics. This service facilitates the automatic creation and governance of semantic views, lending AI agents a unified understanding of business data to deliver consistent and reliable outcomes. The imminent release of upgrades to Snowflake Postgres adds another layer, integrating transactional, analytical, and AI cases onto a unified platform.

Snowflake has entered a $200 million partnership with OpenAI, including the integration of OpenAI models such as GPT-5.2 into Snowflake Cortex AI. The collaboration is expected to support over 12,600 Snowflake customers worldwide, enhancing their data utilisation capabilities.

Christian Kleinerman, EVP of Product at Snowflake, highlights the impact of embedding AI in organisational workflows "making data AI-ready by design", signalling a shift in how firms leverage AI for tangible business benefits.

Additional access to Cortex Code allows users, irrespective of technical skill, to build AI applications without compromising on data security or trustworthiness. Similarly, Semantic View Autopilot allows enterprises to manage their semantic layers, reducing manual intricacies and hindrances in AI deployment.

Finally, Snowflake continues its enhancements to Snowflake Postgres, notably its integration into the AI Data Cloud. This advancement aims to enable organisations to overcome the silos between transactional and analytical systems, promoting unified and secure platform for data-driven decision-making.
