Unilever and Google Cloud announce five-year cloud and AI partnership

The partnership will see Unilever expand its use of Google Cloud technologies to advance data infrastructure and AI-enabled capabilities.

The global consumer packaged goods industry is set to experience changes following a new five-year partnership between Unilever and Google Cloud. The collaboration is intended to support Unilever’s business transformation through the application of Google Cloud’s AI and data technologies.

Using Google Cloud’s enterprise AI platform, Vertex AI, Unilever aims to enhance its global brand portfolio, which includes brands such as Dove and Hellmann's. The partnership will focus on capabilities related to brand discovery, AI-supported marketing, and measurement. As consumer journeys increasingly take place in digital environments, the collaboration reflects a shift from traditional models of brand interaction.

Unilever plans to migrate its data platforms and key enterprise applications to Google Cloud to establish an environment for AI deployment across its operations. This transition is expected to support demand generation processes and improve responsiveness to market changes. The integrated data and cloud foundation is intended to enable agentic workflows — systems that can perform business processes with automation and structured decision-making support.

The collaboration is built around three main areas:

  • Agentic commerce and marketing intelligence: Development of marketing capabilities focused on brand discovery, conversion, and measurement.
  • Integrated data platform: Migration to Google Cloud to create a connected environment for scalable AI initiatives.
  • AI adoption: Combining Google’s AI tools with Unilever’s industry experience to support ongoing technology development.
The modernisation of Unilever’s business processes with AI models is positioned as part of broader technology evolution within the consumer packaged goods sector. It highlights how AI can be applied to support consumer engagement and operational processes.

The partnership centres on technology-led development within the fast-moving consumer goods sector. Google Cloud’s AI capabilities are expected to support system modernisation and contribute to a data-driven infrastructure that can respond to industry and consumer changes.

Unilever is a global supplier of beauty, personal care, home care, and food products, operating across approximately 190 countries. Google Cloud provides AI, infrastructure, developer, data, and collaboration tools designed for enterprise environments.
