Vertiv, a global provider of critical digital infrastructure solutions, has launched the Vertiv Power Swap Program for the UK market. The trade-in initiative is designed to support businesses in replacing outdated single-phase uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems through a structured and managed transition process.

With sustainability and operational efficiency under increasing focus, the Vertiv Power Swap Program provides a framework for organisations to manage legacy equipment responsibly. The programme supports compliance with environmental requirements such as the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) directives by enabling collection, refurbishment and recycling of older units.

The initiative is tailored to the UK channel and the single-phase UPS segment, combining discount incentives with a streamlined trade-in process. It allows distribution partners to transition customers to more efficient systems while supporting efforts to reduce environmental impact.

Participants can benefit from discounts of up to 40%, helping to improve budget efficiency and operational resilience. Vertiv also provides free on-site collection of old units, removing logistical challenges associated with transportation and disposal, particularly for businesses in urban locations.

The trade-in process consists of five steps:

  • Identify: Customers contact local IT partners to begin the process and identify eligible legacy UPS units for trade-in.
  • Register: The IT partner submits details of the eligible equipment via the Vertiv Partner Portal.
  • Validate and approve: Vertiv reviews eligibility and issues a unique discount code.
  • Purchase: The code is redeemed when purchasing a new Vertiv UPS through an authorised distributor.
  • Collect and recycle: Collection of the old unit is arranged, and it is recycled in line with WEEE requirements.

"The Vertiv Power Swap program helps our partners to reduce their carbon footprint," said Stuart McDougall, channel marketing specialist, Northern Europe at Vertiv. "With the launch of this new initiative, we're supporting UK businesses to upgrade their power protection whilst decreasing their environmental impact."

"This program strengthens our commitment to the channel by providing partners with an opportunity for enhanced margins and customers with reliable, innovative UPS technology," said Martin Ryder, channel sales director, Northern Europe at Vertiv,

The programme also provides access to newer UPS models including the Vertiv Edge, Vertiv Liebert GXT5 and Vertiv Liebert GXE. These energy-efficient systems aim to support improved uptime and cost efficiency in IT environments, offering upgraded power protection with warranty coverage through a managed transition.
