Vertiv has announced plans to expand its manufacturing operations in Derry and County Donegal, with the intention of creating several hundred new roles over the next six months. The expansion is designed to strengthen the company’s manufacturing capacity for electrical switchgear and reflects growing global demand for power systems, driven in part by increased adoption of AI and digital infrastructure technologies.

While the final number of positions has not been confirmed, the new roles will support Vertiv’s production requirements as demand rises across markets worldwide for components used in data centres, communications networks and industrial applications.

The expansion will focus on three of Vertiv’s manufacturing facilities — located in Campsie, Derry, and the County Donegal towns of Burnfoot and Letterkenny. These sites are expected to benefit from additional staffing across functions including manufacturing, engineering, quality assurance and supporting operational roles.

Beyond job creation, the development signals an effort to scale capacity in line with market demand and maintain delivery capability for critical infrastructure projects. By increasing workforce capacity, Vertiv aims to support continued growth while sustaining operational performance across its facilities.

Paul Ryan, president of Vertiv in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), said: "The expansion of the facilities and creation of these roles in Derry and County Donegal will increase our manufacturing capacity and enable us to deliver critical digital infrastructure at scale and speed."

Overall, the expansion highlights the company’s intention to leverage local skills and resources while strengthening its manufacturing footprint and supporting its global supply requirements.
