DCA appoints new advisory board

The Data Centre Alliance announces a new Advisory Board to guide strategic initiatives in the data centre sector.

The Data Centre Alliance (DCA), the UK trade association representing the data centre industry, has announced the formation of a new Advisory Board following the recent expansion of its Advisory Council.

Liam Round has been appointed Chair of the new Advisory Board. Other members include Jonathon Freegard, Scott Cunningham, Astrid Wynne, Phil Beale, and John Booth. The members bring experience from across the data centre sector.

The Advisory Board has been established to identify and examine key issues affecting the industry through collaborative initiatives. These initiatives aim to provide information and guidance to stakeholders including end users, the public, media, and policymakers on developments shaping the digital landscape.

Previous initiatives by the DCA have included publications such as:

  • The DCA UK Data Centre Legislation Horizon Scan Report
  • The Drowning in Data Report on Data Centre Water Usage
  • The Data Centre Anti Contamination, Filtration and Cleaning Guide
  • The Data Centre Planning Policy, Sustainability, and Resilience Initiative Guide
  • EU Code of Conduct for Data Centres Energy Efficiency Updates
  • DCA Data Centre Standards White Papers

Under Chair Liam Round, the Board plans to work on a programme over the coming year. Areas of focus include planning reform, energy market integration, grid access, sustainability, and AI infrastructure readiness. The Advisory Board will examine regulatory and market developments and contribute to discussions relating to policy, energy, and infrastructure relevant to the UK's digital infrastructure sector.

Founded in 2010, the Data Centre Alliance (UK Data Centre Trade Association) works to provide information about the role of data centres to the media, government, and the public. The organisation also supports engagement between its members and the wider industry, sharing guidance, research, and operational practices.

The DCA describes itself as a vendor-neutral organisation that supports collaboration and development within the data centre sector.
