Legrand, a company in electrical and digital building infrastructures, announced that its Keor FLEX three-phase modular Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) received the Best Reuse or Recycling of Products, Energy, or Data Centre Infrastructure award at the Data Centre World Awards 2026.
The award highlights innovations that reduce waste, extend resource lifespan, and support sustainable practices in technology. The Keor FLEX was noted for its modular, hot-swappable design, high recyclability, and efficiency, demonstrating an approach to designing critical power systems for long-term reuse.
Unlike traditional monolithic UPS systems that require complete replacement at the end of their lifecycle, the Keor FLEX is designed for longevity and modular reintegration. Its hot-swappable architecture allows independent replacement or refurbishment of power modules, reducing waste and extending the overall lifespan of the system. The "pay-as-you-grow" configuration lets operators deploy only the required capacity, reducing over-provisioning and lowering the system’s embodied carbon footprint.

- Exceeds 99% efficiency in ECO mode
- 85% recyclability rate, aligning with IEC/TR 62635 standards
- 69% recyclable metal composition
- Packaging incorporates 50% recycled materials
- Provides 1.2 MW in a 2.8 m² footprint
Uses Silicon Carbide (SiC) elements and an internal busbar to reduce thermal stress, extending the lifespan of semiconductors and power modules.
The Keor FLEX is designed to avoid unnecessary battery replacements. Its universal battery interface allows reuse of existing battery configurations, reducing premature disposal. The system includes smart-grid support features, such as peak shaving, to help data centres manage grid demand.
It is also AI-ready, capable of supporting high-density GPU workloads, and has been tested against AI loads in accordance with IEC 62040-3 standards.
As data centres balance increasing compute requirements with environmental considerations, the Keor FLEX’s circular design allows longer asset lifecycles, lower waste, and reduced energy use. The system’s scalability supports facilities ranging from intermediate sites to large hyperscale campuses.
