OPSWAT and Emerson have announced a strategic reseller agreement aimed at supporting cybersecurity for critical infrastructure in the power and water sectors. The agreement brings OPSWAT technologies to Emerson’s customer base, with a focus on operational technology (OT) patch management capabilities.

Emerson plans to integrate these capabilities into its Ovation Automation Platform as part of its industrial cybersecurity offering. The integration includes OPSWAT’s MetaDefender Endpoint and My OPSWAT Central Management On-Premises, which are intended to support Emerson’s broader cybersecurity suite for operational environments.

The collaboration is positioned to address cyber risks affecting industrial systems, particularly vulnerabilities linked to unpatched software in environments that often include both modern and legacy technologies.

The partners note that developments such as large language models (LLMs) and wider digital transformation are contributing to an expanding attack surface in industrial operations. As a result, the agreement focuses on OT-specific cybersecurity approaches designed to operate within these environments rather than relying solely on traditional IT security models.

The collaboration also emphasises a prevention-focused approach, with an aim of improving resilience and maintaining the operational continuity of critical infrastructure systems through integrated cybersecurity capabilities within Emerson’s platforms.
