Oracle's multicloud expansion: enhancing connectivity between OCI and AWS

Oracle is expanding its multicloud networking capabilities with a new connectivity offering between Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and AWS, aimed at enabling private data and application transfer across the two platforms.

Oracle has announced plans to expand its multicloud networking capabilities to improve connectivity between Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and AWS. The initiative is intended to provide enterprise-grade connections that support application operation and data transfer across both cloud environments.

The approach links Oracle Interconnect with AWS Interconnect, enabling a private, managed connection intended to support customers operating across OCI and AWS. This is designed to facilitate data movement and application workloads between the two platforms.

The collaboration aims to simplify multicloud deployments by allowing organisations to use multiple cloud providers without requiring separate network providers or additional physical networking infrastructure. It also supports workloads such as AI and application modernisation by enabling cross-cloud connectivity and data movement.

Oracle has developed native interconnect capabilities designed for enterprise workloads, supporting multicloud connectivity across 26 partner cloud regions. These services are intended to provide secure, private cloud-to-cloud connections and reduce the operational complexity associated with manually configured networking setups.

The AWS Interconnect–multicloud open specification contributes to this approach by standardising aspects of multicloud connectivity. The combined offering is expected to become available later this year in the AWS US East (N. Virginia) us-east-1 region.
