JumpCloud reveals Agentic IAM for enhanced AI identity management

JumpCloud has introduced Agentic IAM, a new identity management solution designed to support both human users and AI agents.

JumpCloud has introduced Agentic IAM as an extension of its existing identity and device management capabilities. The solution is designed to align with workforce identity and access management (IAM) patterns and incorporate AI agents as they become more involved in organisational processes and operate at high speed.

As AI agents become more common in workplace environments, the distinction between human and non-human roles is becoming less defined. Traditional IAM systems typically treat identities as static entities. By contrast, AI agents require a more adaptive approach that supports flexible access while maintaining control and governance.

With Agentic IAM, organisations can discover, onboard, and manage non-human identities within their environment. The system assigns credentials and access based on defined policies, aiming to ensure agents operate within set boundaries. Without centralised management, coordinating AI-driven activity across systems may become more complex.

The offering is intended to address situations where autonomous agents may use human credentials, providing a platform-independent approach that supports deployment of AI models across operating systems such as Windows, macOS, and Linux while maintaining security controls.

Key components include:

  • AI Discovery & Directory: Visibility into AI agents and related resources, enabling registration and oversight.
  • AI Access & Governance: Centralised management of human and non-human identities with authentication controls.
  • AI Device Trust: Ongoing verification of device integrity to help ensure trusted environments.
  • Human-in-the-Loop Governance: Requires human approval for selected high-impact AI actions.

Planned updates through 2026 are expected to expand capabilities such as audit reporting, device trust enhancements, and agent-to-agent governance, with the aim of supporting broader integration of AI systems alongside existing oversight and security frameworks.
