Vertiv, known for its work in critical digital infrastructure, has acquired Strategic Thermal Labs LLC (STL). The acquisition is intended to support Vertiv’s ongoing development in liquid-cooling technologies, with a focus on the interface between server-side liquid cooling and supporting infrastructure used in high-performance computing environments.

As computing demands increase, the relationship between server-level cooling and broader infrastructure systems has become more significant. This integration can affect system performance factors such as flow control, balance, and overall reliability. Through the acquisition of STL, Vertiv gains access to cold-plate design capabilities and expertise in high-density thermal validation. These additions are intended to support simulation of high-density computing conditions and improve understanding of interactions within thermal and power systems.

Vertiv states that it maintains an open ecosystem approach, with an emphasis on supporting interoperable, server- and silicon-agnostic solutions aimed at improving system-level performance across different computing environments.

The acquisition is also aligned with Vertiv’s broader focus on addressing infrastructure complexity. The company continues to provide integrated power, thermal, controls, and lifecycle service offerings designed to support a range of operational environments and requirements.
