Cloudera strengthens EMEA channel leadership with key appointment

Cloudera appoints Koen van Erp to strengthen EMEA alliances, focusing on strategic growth and regional precision.

Cloudera has appointed Koen van Erp to lead its EMEA Alliances and Channels organisation. He brings around 15 years of experience across technology companies and start-ups, including time at Google.

At Google, he worked in partner sales within Google Cloud Security in the EMEA region, where the organisation grew to more than $100 million in annual revenue during his tenure. More recently, he served as COO of IronCloud, where he worked on the company’s go-to-market strategy for its AI-driven Security Operations offering.

In his new role at Cloudera, van Erp is responsible for supporting sales activity in the EMEA region and overseeing the channel strategy. This includes working with partner ecosystems to support market coverage and customer engagement.

His focus includes system integrators involved in Sovereign Cloud-related requirements, with an emphasis on region-specific execution. He will also work on relationships with partners such as AWS, Nvidia, Dell Technologies, AMD, and IBM.

The Cloudera Partner Network (CPN) is part of the company’s partner ecosystem and provides training, incentives, and tools for partners. The partner portal includes resources such as development funding, incentive programmes, and discount structures, with updates informed by partner feedback aimed at addressing regional regulatory and Sovereign Cloud requirements.

Cloudera’s approach also addresses challenges often described in the industry as fragmentation, where organisations may use multiple disconnected cloud services or rely on on-premises infrastructure. The company positions its platform as a way to support more integrated data and cloud environments.
