Tenable Holdings, known for its work in exposure management, has announced new capabilities for its AI system Tenable Hexa AI. The AI engine, which is part of the Tenable One Exposure Management Platform, is now generally available and includes additional features intended to support cybersecurity operations.
As organisations face increasing risks from previously unknown vulnerabilities, technologies such as AI and large language models (LLMs) are being applied to assist with detection and response. Tenable Hexa AI is positioned as a tool that connects vulnerability discovery with remediation workflows. It is described as being able to reduce the vulnerability discovery timeline from months to near real-time outputs, aiming to improve response speed for security teams.
One of the key updates is the use of Tenable’s Exposure Data Fabric. This component consolidates distributed technical data into prioritised intelligence, intended to help organisations align security findings with business requirements. The goal is to support end-to-end coverage of the threat landscape, from identification through to remediation.
Tenable Hexa AI includes the following capabilities:
- Advanced multi-step reasoning: Supports multi-step workflows across different exposure surfaces within a single request, reducing the need to manually correlate data across multiple tools.
- Automated remediation: Can generate and route tasks, as well as create policies and audit reports, to help security teams respond to identified vulnerabilities.
- Detailed exposure path insights: Enables queries of environments using identity-based attributes such as service accounts and Active Directory (AD) groups, with the aim of identifying potential exposure paths.
The AI system functions as an orchestration layer that integrates with existing IT and security tools. This allows organisations to build and deploy workflows for tasks such as threat detection and remediation, using either pre-built or custom agents. It also provides guidance for configuring more complex environments to support operational use.
In the context of enterprise cybersecurity, Tenable Hexa AI is presented as a system that coordinates workflows and supports remediation processes in addition to identifying risks. It is designed to provide continuous visibility, control mechanisms, and audit capabilities within exposure management environments.
As cybersecurity threats continue to evolve, tools like Tenable Hexa AI are being positioned as part of broader efforts to improve how organisations manage and respond to vulnerabilities across their systems.
