CTERA launches InsightAI: data management with AI

CTERA's InsightAI introduces a transformative approach to data management, blending AI-driven intelligence with natural language interaction for streamlined, proactive operations.

CTERA has announced CTERA InsightAI, an AI intelligence layer integrated into the CTERA Intelligent Data Platform. It is intended to support enterprises in managing, securing, and optimising unstructured data environments.

CTERA InsightAI focuses on data observability by providing AI-driven operational insights. It continuously analyses enterprise data activity and identifies potential risks, unusual patterns, and inefficiencies. It correlates information such as activity logs, metadata, permissions, capacity trends, and security events to provide a consolidated view of data operations, supporting governance, security, and operational efficiency.

Rather than relying solely on traditional static dashboards, InsightAI presents a continuously updated view of the environment and explains observed trends. It also provides natural language interaction for administrators, enabling exploration of system behaviour and identification of potential optimisation opportunities.

The platform is designed to address several areas of data management:

  • Security and threat investigation: Uses AI-assisted analysis of activity and audit data to help identify potentially suspicious behaviour and support investigation and recovery processes.
  • Compliance and governance: Provides audit logging and monitoring intended to support regulatory requirements such as GDPR and HIPAA.
  • Storage cost optimisation: Analyses storage usage and growth trends to support forecasting and capacity planning.
  • Chargeback and consumption analytics: Provides visibility into usage patterns to support internal cost allocation and chargeback models.
  • Operational efficiency: Generates automated reporting and recommendations to assist IT teams in monitoring and resolving issues.

CTERA InsightAI can be deployed in multiple environments, including as a CTERA-hosted SaaS offering, in customer-managed private cloud deployments, and in regulated environments such as AWS GovCloud and Microsoft Azure Government.
