Tenable joins OpenAI in the battle against cyber threats

Tenable and OpenAI partner to harness AI in confronting evolving cyber threats and enhancing exposure management capabilities.

Tenable Holdings has announced a collaboration with OpenAI as part of the OpenAI Daybreak Cyber Partner Program. The collaboration combines OpenAI’s AI capabilities with Tenable’s exposure management tools, with the aim of improving how organisations understand cyber risk and respond to evolving threats.

The announcement comes in the context of a changing cybersecurity landscape, where AI is increasingly being used in both offensive and defensive contexts. Cybercriminals may use AI to speed up reconnaissance, support vulnerability discovery, and shorten the time between identifying and exploiting security weaknesses. This creates additional challenges for security teams, who must assess a growing volume of potential exposures within limited response timeframes.

The Tenable One Exposure Management Platform is designed to help organisations prioritise exposures based on risk rather than volume of findings. Through the Tenable Exposure Data Fabric, organisations can aggregate and analyse different sources of exposure data to distinguish higher-risk issues from lower-priority vulnerabilities. Integration with OpenAI’s models is intended to support faster analysis and response processes, helping teams address exposures more efficiently.

The collaboration is focused on several areas, including:

  • Cybersecurity research and exposure intelligence
  • Improved identification and prioritisation of exploitable exposures and attack paths
  • Support for security teams in prioritising, validating, and responding to risks
  • Streamlining operational workflows to support risk mitigation efforts

Tenable also continues to develop AI-based capabilities within its platform, with the goal of supporting organisations in managing cyber risk in increasingly complex environments.
