EG Group moves to RISE with SAP

One of the global leaders in fuel forecourt convenience retailing, EG Group (EG), will further enhance its technical and operational management capabilities by moving to RISE with SAP S/4HANA Private Cloud, supported by SAP SuccessFactors and SAP Business Technology Platform.

EG owns and operates over 6,200 forecourt sites across a network spanning 10 international markets in Europe, the US and Australia with approximately 50,000 employees. It is responsible for delivering the customer experience and brand standards of approximately 62 retail partners, who are recognised as best-in-class across grocery and merchandise, foodservice and fuel retail.

EG is already transforming its finance, human resources and sales systems with SAP as its global, strategic enterprise technology partner. Its overarching vision is to deliver a modern consumer retail offer, which exceeds expectations and creates a true one stop retail destination to satisfy multiple consumer demands.

The move to RISE with SAP will provide EG Group with an agile and single Digital Core platform to scale its dynamic business and have a universal ERP template to onboard acquisitions on to, allowing EG to remain agile and responsive to business and consumer needs. This new Core platform will provide financial reporting insights into all its businesses utilising SAP Analytics Cloud and SAP Group Reporting.

EG Group has grown exponentially over the years and accrued a number of ERP systems across numerous countries on different versions and templates, which creates challenges in sourcing real-time data and visibility to make business decisions. SAP will help to remove this complexity and provide EG Group with real-time consistent data that will allow the business to make insight-to-action a reality.

EG Group decided to expand its strategic relationship with SAP into other industry offerings, such as Retail and Oil & Gas. This will bring greater integration of end-to-end SAP processes and automation to provide greater efficiencies leveraging the same rich data templates. EG Group will also work towards implementing SAP best practices to enhance internal controls and governance.

EG Group currently runs its core HR, Workforce Management and Talent Management function for circa 27,000 employees with SAP SuccessFactors across the UK, Europe and Australia. To power the next phase of its transformation, EG Group will leverage SAP’s Solution Extension capabilities to deliver next generation document management and e-signature functionality, enable self-learning with a best-in-class content management platform and a great employee experience powered by SAP Work Zone.

SAP and EG Group will also be working in collaboration to make a difference to its wider communities, via learning and development and establishing a centre of excellence which will look to employ and train talent from the local community and certify with SAP accreditation at the end of the training.

In a joint statement, Zuber and Mohsin Issa, Founders and Co-CEOs of EG Group, said: “We have engaged SAP to deliver a powerful, cloud-based platform, which will help drive transformation, automate business processes, enable our teams to succeed and more importantly ‒ further enhance decision making.”

Graham Billsborough, CIO of EG Group, said: “Partnering with SAP has already allowed EG Group to realise benefits across functions such as finance, IT, HR, learning and development. By extending the strategic partnership and working even more closely with SAP, the intent is to design and build a more comprehensive technology solution that will be used as a unified global platform. Our ambition is to simplify the current SAP system landscape, through RISE, realising new business capabilities through digital innovation.”

Rohit Nagarajan, President EMEA North at SAP, said: “We are incredibly proud of the established relationship we have with EG Group and this next phase of the company’s growth and transformation is a truly exciting step. Not only for our partnership and what we want to achieve together, but for the way in which EG Group’s move to the cloud with RISE with SAP and S/4HANA will create the necessary foundations to accelerate growth across the business. We believe that with SAP’s technology and experience and EG Group’s commitment to continuous innovation, together we are creating an organisation which fulfils the needs of customers and teams today, whilst setting the foundations for even greater success in the future.”
