Commvault to acquire Satori Cyber Ltd strengthening data and AI security

Commvault plans to acquire Satori Cyber Ltd to bolster its data security and AI governance capabilities, addressing challenges faced by enterprises.

Commvault, a prominent leader in cyber resilience and data protection solutions across hybrid clouds, recently announced its decision to acquire Satori Cyber Ltd (Satori), a firm specialising in data and AI security. This move is anticipated to empower enterprises to manage simultaneous challenges presented by AI adoption, data proliferation, and global regulatory demands.

With hybrid and multi-cloud environments becoming the norm, it's crucial for business leaders to have tools that secure sensitive data effectively. By incorporating Satori's capabilities, Commvault aims to strengthen compliance support, risk management, and control over data accessibility, especially crucial during the AI evolution. The collaboration promises features like large language model (LLM) monitoring, automated discovery, and improved access management for both structured and unstructured data.

Rajiv Kottomtharayil, Chief Product Officer at Commvault, expressed excitement over the integration, noting that by "integrating Satori’s real-time agentless controls and deep visibility into structured and AI training data, we’re extending our cyber resilience into the data layer—enabling secure data access, AI governance, and policy enforcement." His sentiments were echoed by Eldad Chai, CEO of Satori, who emphasised the importance of unified security measures for AI and data pipelines.

IDC Group VP of Security and Trust, Frank Dickson, highlighted the acquisition's potential to simplify compliance efforts, noting, "Satori Cyber’s multi-cloud data activity monitoring, data discovery, and policy enforcement controls will enhance Commvault’s ability to help clients simplify compliance efforts to mitigate security and privacy risks."

The transaction, slated for completion by August 2025, is expected to bring advanced data and AI security features to the Commvault Cloud platform. Key innovations include:

  • Modern Data Solution: Cloud-native and agentless, Satori's systems easily integrate with multiple platforms, enabling robust policy enforcement and data governance.
  • Structured Data Protection: Offers comprehensive discovery, classification, and protection of sensitive data across cloud-native infrastructures, maintaining data security proactively.
  • AI-Aware Safeguards: Provides mechanisms to track data flow into AI models and ensure secure data recovery.

With these enhancements, Commvault is set to redefine enterprise capabilities against the backdrop of rapid AI advancements and evolving security landscapes.
