AlphaSense, a leading AI platform in market intelligence, has recently announced its acquisition of Carousel at the AlphaSummit customer conference. This strategic acquisition adds Carousel’s AI-powered Excel modelling technology to AlphaSense’s generative AI suite. By integrating dynamic modelling capabilities, a new standard of unified intelligence is created—spanning documents, financial data, and now dynamic models.

The use of Excel in business decision-making is longstanding. However, crafting detailed models demands labour-intensive manual workflows. With the integration of Carousel's technology, AlphaSense customers can now generate and update financial models swiftly and efficiently.

AlphaSense now stands unmatched in combining generative Excel modelling with an extensive premium content universe. This includes Canalyst models for 4,500 companies and incorporates historical financials and key performance indicator (KPI) drivers to offer detailed financial performance modelling.

Carousel promises to alleviate the most laborious aspects of an analyst’s workflow, such as data extraction from PDFs, model formatting, and complex logic explanations. Its incorporation into the AlphaSense platform transforms it from a mere execution tool into a cognitive partner. Analysts can now focus on generating in-depth insights with AI-driven models that facilitate intelligent iteration.

The integration delivers unparalleled speed, accuracy, and insight depth by enabling customers to:

  • Build and refine models: Carousel supports drafting and refining models with natural language. With AlphaSense, analysts can seamlessly incorporate insights from earnings calls, research reports, and competitive filings—all within Excel.
  • Ingest data from various sources: Alongside its existing capacity to extract data from PDFs and presentations, Carousel's integration with AlphaSense enables analysts to locate specific line items across multiple filings, enhancing model precision.
  • Model comprehension: Carousel offers Model Walkthrough, breaking down complex formulas into simple language. This facilitates accurate reviews and accelerates onboarding.
  • Context-aware analysis: Carousel understands model contexts, providing analysts an opportunity to explore scenarios, alternative hypotheses, and stress-test assumptions effortlessly.

Jack Kokko, CEO and Founder of AlphaSense, commented on the acquisition: "AlphaSense has long been the leader in AI-driven market intelligence. By incorporating what the Carousel team has built, we extend leadership into Excel, streamlining one of the most important analytical workflows in the financial and business world."

Co-Founder of Carousel, Daniel Wolf, remarked: "By pairing our modelling velocity with AlphaSense's unparalleled intelligence capabilities, millions of documents, and thousands of Canalyst models, we can help analysts iterate with market insights and pursue deeper analysis they wouldn't have time for otherwise. We can make analysts better, not just faster."

This acquisition solidifies AlphaSense's leadership in market AI and intelligence while enhancing its platform capabilities from research to modelling and from insights to actionable strategies. The seamless integration of Carousel ensures a cohesive in-platform experience.

The financial details of the acquisition remain undisclosed.
